An Airbnb in Baltimore, Tuesday Afternoon
Sparkle had given the island's weirdness one night! One.
One was enough. The message that he'd left for Atton in the wake of that night was dubiously coherent and had been left without a single breath taken between words, and Sparkle could not get off the island fast enough after being caught out after the airhorns sounded, thank you very, very much. Sparkle had put up with years of Fandom horror, but very little could prepare a guy for the things he'd seen, stabbed, and screamed at while trying to make his way to somewhere that didn't involve...
... those.
It was a frazzled, tipsy Sparkle, wielding a tupperware container with a fish in it in one hand and half a bottle of Fireball in the other, who made his way up to the Airbnb that Hernando had booked and who knocked on the door. With his face.
There might have been sobbing involved? Or it could've just been frazzled ranting in between bouts of quiet screeching. It was hard to tell.
Sparkles were not made for Silent Hills.

Sooo easier. Way less awkward than burning his fingers rimming the bowl when he was panicked and shaking and freaking the fuck out, anyway.
Plus, like, he could chase that high from bed.
Convenient!

"It also does not smell of smoke," Hernando added agreeably, "Did it kick in fast enough for you? I've nothing to compare it to." He definitely approved of this whole 'chasing it in bed' thing. Sparkle was kind of melting and he very thoroughly approved of this after the stress his body had been through.

Or Sparkle had started out drunk. Or that.
no subject
Drunk and stressed and probably with a heart rate that had pounded the THC right through him like a bullet. "We'll have to try it again on a night that you haven't had a bellyful of Fireball first," Hernando murmured thoughtfully, "Because this is quite nice. You are letting yourself relax nicely, baby."
He smiled down at Sparkle, "And I enjoy wearing you like a blanket. This is nice. I like this."
no subject
That... sounded like innuendo.
It was not.
no subject
"Any time you want to be worn," Hernando offered in turn. Also not innuendo. He was just very, very content at this moment. Sparkle was more or less physically okay and he was lucid and relaxed and not panicking or riding a constant surge of adrenaline. He was comfortable laying here on Hernando and being high and giddy and a little silly.
"I think that wiggling counts as fidgeting," he teased him, more punishing little kisses all around his face. "You are supposed to be chilled out. I will call Dani and tell her the pills didn't work, see if I don't." Yeah that was a real threat. Sure.
no subject
And then, perhaps predictably, more giggling.
no subject
Hernando laughed quietly again at his giddy, giddy boyfriend. Squished him a little and murmured, "Is there anything you need, baby? Do you want more toast or more tea or anything? Do I need to put on cartoons for you?" Look, nobody'd ever given him a 'how to deal with your giddy, stoned boyfriend' manual and he wanted to make sure he was doing this right. The few times he'd been stoned, he'd eaten his bodyweight in snack cakes and regretted it for three days.

Hmmmm.
"Do you have to get up for any of those? I'm good like this." A beat. "You have pretty hair."
Guess who was now petting your head, Hernando.
no subject
Cuddle Sparkle a little tighter is what he would do. Nuzzling his head up into the petting. "It is very annoying hair in this weather. The humidity makes it very puffy. I need to get a haircut soon."
no subject
A beat.
"Duh."
He had first dibs, and then apparently Hernando was welcome to run off and get his hair cut immediately after the cuddles stopped.
no subject
Hernando laughed again and nuzzled him. "Not that soon," he protested, "because I don't plan to stop cuddling you for hours. Maybe days. Depends how long you need to rest, baby. Believe that if I find you stress-cleaning the grout with a toothbrush and bleach, I am going to pick you up, hose you off, throw you in bed and pin you with cuddles until you relax again."
He would, too.
no subject
Then what, huh?
Sparkle glanced over his shoulder, now curious and debating whether or not Hernando would let him go check.
no subject
"Then the grout can stay dirty for now," Hernando said firmly. He gave a light swat - not even a swat, really, more just a bap, on Sparkle's ass. "No, baby. You stay here with me. Your job is to rest. Everything else can wait."
no subject
...
He was ungood at resting.
no subject
Stroking his hair, Hernando kissed his forehead. "This is you squirming all around and being giddy," he corrected with a smile, "but it's nice that you're relaxing even if you aren't quite resting yet. That's okay too. Giddy, giggly, smiling Sparkles are incredibly pretty people. I definitely don't mind this."
no subject
Or a fifth or a sixth or...
"I'm gonna crash so bad when I do, holy fuck."
He did not seem to mind that right at that moment, nah.
no subject
"Baby," Hernando sighed, "You are going to crash so bad because you need to sleep, sweetheart." And it would involve nightmares and if he was really lucky it wouldn't involve a sudden panic fit that did see Sparkle in the bathroom obsessively cleaning the grout and sobbing at the same time. "I'll be here," Hernando promised, "I'll be here and holding you, okay? And we are not turning the lights off."
no subject
Nice to fall alseep to, at least.
Waking up might involve sobbing and struggling and freaking the fuck out, might be the result of one big ugly night terror. But at least he wouldn't be dealing with it alone.
no subject
"Mmmmmhmmm," Hernando purred, snuggling him in close. Yeah, he knew how Sparkle was likely to wake up. It wasn't their first rodeo with that, either. Not on either side of it. But it was nice to pretend, and to know that eventually the panic and the nightmares would fade for awhile.
"Someone's getting sleepy already," Hernando teased him quietly, "Go to sleep if you can, baby."
no subject
... Better, now.
"Okay," he mumbled, and sighed, and folded himself around Hernando for dear life. "Promise not to tell Dani?"
It made sense in his head. These pills weren't meant to be sleep aids, after all.
no subject
Hernando adjusted himself into a better position to give Sparkle all the skin contact he wanted. "The only thing I am going to tell Dani is 'thank you'," he assured Sparkle and stroked his hair. Smiled a little, "Might tell her how giggly you got, describe how your eyes were shining and your dimples were showing when you smile. She might like to hear that part."
She would.. definitely.. like to hear that part.
His smile went a little wicked and he murmured, "Tell her how we were laying here naked on the bed, your body entirely covering mine while you were wriggling and happy and giggling.. What do you think she'd think of that, baby?"
He knew what she'd think of that.
no subject
A very vivid mental image.
And then Sparkle was making a "Mrrroowrrr," sound, followed by a giggle, followed by a moment taken to kiss Hernando's face a few times. Because, yup.
no subject
Hernando chuckled and kept turning his face to catch more kisses. "Giggling, silly kitten," he murmured, cuddling him more, "Close your eyes, silly kitty. See if you can sleep."
no subject
"... You'll stay?"
As if Hernando could get out from under him without waking him up.
