The Causeway, Sunday Evening
Sparkle bounced on his toes as he waited to meet Hernando on the Causeway for their date. He'd... kind of panicked. Being given a couple of days to come up with something good given the date that Hernando had arranged had left him flailing, and now he was second-guessing basically everything, ever. But it was too late to back out now, even if his choice for the evening was less about art and more about ambiance.
He desperately hoped that the place wouldn't be swamped with kids.
He also hadn't even gotten as far as making dinner reservations.
Tonight was going to be interesting, okay?
[OOC: For that guy!]

"Maybe we put the aquarium into your apartment instead?" Sparkle smiled a little, ducking his head. "Or you can help me set one up at the clothing shop, we can share it."
Joint custody of the fishies.

Really, they were a pretty good draw all on their own.
Now, if Hernando were to get a kitten...
"What kind of fish would you want?"
no subject
Hernando was not getting a kitten. He had quokka.
no subject
Little ambitious, that Sparkle.
no subject
Little ambitious. Very adorable.
no subject
Right now, in this moment.

"A sea lion is easier to handle than a shark?" he wondered, "Well, though, a sea lion would be at home in the cold water around the island also."
"I think perhaps I shall go with the small colorful fish." A nod toward a salt water tank with a display of anemones and little clown fish. "Something of that sort."
no subject
Probably a little more promising than sea lions, anyway.
no subject
"They remind me of the animated movie," Hernando said, "With the small fish with a sad fin. These do not look sad."
It was hard to think of them as sad when they were rolling around like kittens in the anemones and wriggling all over.
no subject
So very feelings.
But then, Pixar.
no subject
So he could cry like he had at the first movie. Shush.
no subject
"It's a tissues movie," Sparkle warned. "Or at least a 'bring a pillow to hug' movie."
no subject
"I shall take note of that and save the rental for some day I feel maudlin," Hernando said with a small smile.
Something caught his attention and distracted him completely. "Sparkle, look!" He all but dragged Sparkle over to another tank with almost childlike enthusiasm, "Dragons!"
Leafy and weedy sea dragons, yes sir.
no subject
He was gesturing with one hand, like maybe he could pluck the word from the air.
"I love them."
no subject
They were alive. They just weren't moving very quickly. Drifting to and fro like the lazy sea monsters they truly were.
"Aah! It yawned!" If his eyes could become little animated hearts, they would have done so.
no subject
Why yes, yes he was whipping out his phone to google if people were allowed to keep these things as pets or something.
no subject
Hernando was staring all wide eyed. Transfixed by the slow water dance of the dragons. "That would be something, no? They look like flowers."
Weeds, Hernando. They looked like weeds.
no subject
"Aww, they don't really breed in captivity," Sparkle sulked. "Okay, nah, I don't want one. But seeing them here like this is so fucking cool."
Even ignoring the prohibitive price of both the fish and the tank it would need, Sparkle wasn't going to ever keep any wild-caught animals as pets, no.
... Because there were plenty of captive-bred pet hammerhead sharks, sure.
no subject
Sparkle's tenderheartedness was endearing even when expressed as a sulk. It made Hernando's smile just that much wider.
no subject
And because it was kind of fantastic, seeing Hernando so engrossed in something. His smile was so good. Sparkle wanted more of it.

"And we've only been here like ten minutes, too," Sparkle laughed. "That seems like a pretty good sign, huh?"
He leaned in to kiss Hernando's nose, because it was now pointed at him and he could, and then he grinned.
"Unless you didn't want another one? I'll give you the rest of this date to decide if I'm actually a disaster or not, how's that sound?"
no subject
"I have already accepted," Hernando smiled, "because yes I do want another one."
no subject
"Yesssss," Sparkle replied, grinning into that nuzzle. "Good. Good. I'm looking forward to it."
Very much.
